Global Heatmap

Strava has a pretty cool feature for personal heatmaps, which I wanted to share here using all the gpx data from my account. This map uses data from July 2017 (when I joined Strava) to June 2025 (when I downloaded my data).

Some cool places to zoom in on:

• Pittsburgh, where I've been snaking through every street since undergrad.
• Edinburgh, Scotland - my northernmost run.
• Queenstown, New Zealand - my southernmost run.
• Munich, my grad school days. I set out at some point to run every street in the city and barely scratched the surface...
• Frisco, Colorado - my (surely?) highest altitude run.
• Paris: I have a habit of arriving in a new city and trying to knock out all the tourist attractions in a single morning run. Great way to explore!
